I normally agree with most of what you say David, but I do have a huge problem with the title of your video. It's untrue, and you know it, but you choose to lie anyway to whip up emotions just like like your political conservative opponents on FOX et al. Shame on you. No TV or Internet for a month. And straight home from school.

I think both of you are missing the point here. For starters, even trying to compare Norway and USA on this topic is like night and day. All of Norways neighour countries have very strict gun enforcement rules, which makes it significantly harder to smuggle guns into Norway. Norway has been ranked several times as number 1 on least murder rates. With US gun policies, yes, you as a people need guns, but I firmly believe it could be regulated. Look at Scandinavian policies. less guns = less murdr

guns aren't allowed in Norway... it's much harder to get here than the US.. but still, if a mad man wants to get a gun it's still possible.. but if guns were legal for sane people; maybe someone could have stopped him.. Maybe... but with gun illegal, people who are sane and law abiding don't have guns to protect themselves with so.. guns could only make the situation better in this case, not worse.. criminals will always find a way to get guns.. we need guns for good people too!!

you cant kill 50 people with a knife in under 5 seconds
-
In America, where ever there's a high concentration of guns in non-gang areas, there is very little crime. Armed citizens stop criminals.
-
What are you talking about? They were trying to ban AR-15 style rifles, which are not full fledged assault weapons. They were also trying to regulate handgun rounds. They wanna ban guns that are responsible for a very small percentage of gun crimes. You don't get it. They're trying to put more and more regulations on law abiding gun owners. We need criminal control, not gun control. We need harsher laws against violent crimes, and we need MORE citizens trained to carry and use guns.
-
Nobody has tried to banned guns, just ban the guns that are designed to KILL 50 people in 1 second. Nobody minds having a revolver, or hunting shotgun, but having a minnigun in your home is the biggest load of horse shit I've ever herd.
-
That palce was NOT a gun free zone. However people didn't happen to have guns, Norway it self has not banned guns, we just don have any guns that are ONLY designed to kill several people in quick succesion. PS: Let's use your logic shall we? If 10 %of the people would have had guns, then there would have been over 60 people with guns running around, there is no way they would know who was the real bad guy and now more people die instead.
-
I have to say I don't agree with you at all. Yes, the death tool would have been lower if someone had shot him before he managed to kill so many people... but he still would've killed alot of people. If you compare the norwegian "brand of thinking" to the states (a country which seems to share your views) ,you can see that they have much more of these situations happening and that is thanks to your brand of thinking. More guns doesn't keep the death toll down if you look at the big picture.
-
Haha, i can't preorder a PS4 from the states 'cause i live in Oslo but ammunition is ok?.. Seriously, USA. I know you love your country and that you think very economical about different situations but please try to have some interest in the well-being of the human race in the future. Best regards, The rest of the world!

im with you on the 30 round clip thing, but i just wanna say in general, i think guns should be allowed in the US. If it was illegal, criminals would still get them some other way, but good guys trying to protect their store, home etc will not get a hold of guns.. criminals will still take lives, if not with a gun then with a knife or something.. making guns illegal will not stop crime, or even get it down a little...

On the bear issue. There is only about a 200 bears in Norway, and they're more likely to avoid people all together. The only dangerous case is if you're walking against the wind so the bear can't smell you and even if do it will, as long as you're careful slowly backing away or playing dead, most likely not mind you unless it has cubs, though running would still be a bad idea. To provide some perpective, last time someone died of a bear attack in Norway was in 1906...., over a hundred years ago.
-
You dont wanna have a shotgun when a bear attacks, then you have to wait until its close enough to kill it... You want a semi-automatic rifle 308. or bigger.
-
Breivik also had a handgun and he was on steroids, so it wouldn't really matter..

If a bear decides to kill you, it will.

It's pretty easy to understand, the harder it get's to get firearms for legimate reason, it is also harder to get illegally. I will not say imposible but more difficult, and at least more expencive.
-
yeah, people kill people, but if we look at what Anders Behring Brievik did, he wouldn't have killed nearly as many, many died because he was shooting at them while they were swimming away from the island, and killing them would be be close to impossible without a gun or some form of explosives. And guns can protect people yes, but if you need a 30 round clip to protect yourself its most likely the swat team (or something like it) and you wouldn't want to shoot

that's the rules for hunting rifles/shotguns, not competition guns or collector guns

Guns are also heavily regulated. Fully automatic weapons are illegal, a private person can NOT own one.
You need to be a member of a hunting club, completed a hunting test and provide papers that you're in a hunting club to purchase and own pistol, shotgun and/or rifle.
Same deal if you're a competetive shooter. Registered in a gun club, member for 6 months, provde papers that you're in a club and submit papers on exercises and events you participate in.
You must be 18 in most cases, though handguns/revolvers is required 21 years. Your criminal records will be checked and they MUST be clean, no priors.
Medical check is required (mental instabillity, ect). If any such things should come up, forget about it. Any narcotic or alcholoic substances are absolutely prohibited.
Weapons for hunting are required to be registered in a "hunting registry". Same goes for competetive shooting.
There are 11 organizations approved to provide recommendations you're required to have in order to purchase a weapon.
Minimum legal age for BB guns is 18 and you're required to register any BB guns with a caliber higher than 4.5mm.
Some weapons that are forbidden and illegal, besides fully automatic weapons are:
Stiletto knives
Butterfly knives
Knightsticks/batons
Brass knuckles
Slingshots
Stunguns or other electroshock weapons
Nunchakos
Blowdarts
Shurikens
Any knife with a blade longer than 25 cm (or 9.84 inches)
Maces
This is just a small summary of Norway's weapon laws and regulations. Most of this straight from the Police's own website.
Interesting stuff? x)
