The Akerselva Oslo River Video Tour, showing the Oslo River also called Akerselva. This is one of Oslo's many green lunges. A hidden gem but still a very popular and relaxing place to go for walks and barbeque gatherings with friends and family. The Oslo River Akerselva starts at the Maridalslake (Maridalsvannet) which is the source of Oslo City drinking water. And runs through the city before ending up in the Oslofjord. Around 1850s Akerselva became the center of Norways industrial revolution. Back then the Oslo River was the source of Oslo's drinking water. SO naturally the waper pipes for the intake had to be moved further up in Akerselva after a couple of decades. First they moved it to treskow bridge which crosses akerselva further upstream. Then the industry moved further up so naturally the pipes were again moved, this time to the start of the Oslo River. Like mentioned earlier Akerselva starts at the Maridal lake.
