I visited just once in the 1980s. On the T-bane, one of the outer stations had officially commissioned spray paint graffiti decorating the plan white walls of the station. This was often suggested to the New York MTA as a means of providing a releif valve for the creativity of artists. In rare instances a car grafittied car would be repainted silver, but they wouldn't have time to repaint the blue stripe, so the car would run around with a stripe of graffiti on an otherwise clean car.
