On November 4, 1995, Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated after attending a peace rally. Throughout the Oslo Accords, Israel had been on the cusp of normalizing relationships with her neighbors and others in the international community. For many outside of Israel, Rabin's assassination marked a loss of hope. However, for many Israelis this violent and tragic event represented something more complex. Rabin's death came not only as a shock, it led to increased isolation, the growth of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement and changed the course of history. This discussion honors this remarkable leader and reviews how history was impacted by his murder.
