I'll go to work this morning, with this song bursting from my heart. God gave me this song in 1969 at a little church in South L.A. near my grandma's house. Only a few months before, O Happy Day (as Kevin Bouknight mentions) was on the radio as a top 40 song - I had to pull over and surrender my life to Christ. These two songs mean more to me than I can express. Thank you, dear Lord! Thank you for posting this!

Take me back this was the first song we sang back in the 60s. Cade Chapel MB Church. Thanks Myrna for this one bringing back. I had this album along with O Happy Day by Edwin Hawkins. During the 5th Dimensions.....what a flashback!

Wow. Brings back great memories. Thanks for posting.

Believe it or not, this song was released the same year as "O Happy Day" and we all know which song is more popular. Had this song been released a year prior, this probably would have been even more popular than "O Happy Day".
-
We sang it in youth choir too.

This song is in my mind this morning, and I can sing God has given me a song that the angels cannot sing, I been saved from God's wrath, redeemed through faith in Jesus Christ from the punishment and power of sin. Praise God.

I love the sneaky intro. You think you know where it's going then...pow! Pure awesomeness!!
-
We used to sing this song in the Youth Choir at the church I grew up in back in the 1980s. Good to hear it again.
-
I use to hear this song every Sunday before church.

This song means so much to me. It was while singing it, with The Majestic Choral Ensemble (Baltimore, Md) that I "FELT" the spirit of the living God, for the first time!
I had been serving Him since childhood, but then He let me know, that He saw ME! I cried, and danced all over that stage, where we were in concert! I remember my choir bros. & sis.laughing and clapping, as I told them afterward,"That my feet got to going and I couldn't stop!!" (smile) Praise God! -
I grew up listening to this whole record with my parents around the house. #goodtimes #learningfaithearlyon

Got up today with this song in my heart. Thank you.

AMEN and AMEN! Her lyrics and the very sonorities of the choir--plus the instrumentalists--really punched powerful messages through some ANOINTED music; songs that told the TRUTH, yet radiated the POWER OF THE HOLY GHOST, Who wrote these songs through Sister Summers! Much of today's "contemporary gospel" lacks this JOY and lacks good musical arrangement--in spite of all the techno-stuff. Old-school is BETTER, but not just because it's "traditional"--soloists, choirs and musicians were SAVED!

Thanks @99score for uploading this song! I grew up on this one, and the seriousness of its theme of salvation through being "washed in the blood of the Crucified One" always struck my heart...truly, a song contemplating the mercy of God toward us, His sheep!
