Probably the luckiest German posting of the war. Little action after the initial invasion and when Germany surrendered they didn't have to risk their lives. Yes I know there was the occasional British commando raid or resistance attack but a lot better then the Eastern and later western fronts

Tourist season 1940. They were a bit early that year. Same here in the Netherlands: they stayed a bit longer than the usual 2 weeks. They liked it so much here that they didn't leave for another 5 years.

@DeBalaguer The British began bombing German cities in response to prior German bombing of London. German had no right to invade other countries, or to murder people based on their ethnicity, and needed to be stopped. They were. Germany made a practice of invading their allies, such as Poland, and USSR. That practice had the happy effect of building a large coalition that opposed them.
