This is the music that introduced me to black metal in 2012. I remember the first time I've listened. I was buying some game (I believe it was Skyrim) and the salesman was dressing a shirt of In Sorte Diaboli album. I got pretty scared at first, but when I got home the first thing I've done was to search for this "Dimmu Borgir" band, and this was the first video that appeared in youtube's list. When I've heard Shagrath's voice and saw all the strange face paint and spikes, I thought "what the fuck is this sick shit" (I was sixteen and got pretty creeped out). One month later, I was listening norwegian black metal every day.

It saddens me to know I'll never see a Dimmu lineup with Mustis, Vortex and Nicholas Barker in now, fuck.......
-
Vortex is godly, I picture him singing the cleans as a massive army charges forth into the fray just epic

Nick Barker plays old Dimmu songs better than those drummers who wrote the parts, but no drummer can play Nick Barker's parts as good or better than him. When Nick covers songs he plays them the way they were intended with feel, finesse and precision. You can tell when he covers something he's thinking "oh, you meant to do it like this," and improves upon the music. But the drummers who try to cover Nick sound like just that, like it's a cover and can't really pull it off.

Fucking amazing band. They are just as great live as on their albums.
