It's expensive in Norway because people here earn a lot and the average wages is very high compared to other countries, it is one of the countries were you earn the most, one of the richest countries in the world! That is the reason why it's so expensive.
God for the people living here because it's a benefit when we travel out of Norway, but it's bad for the tourists! -

We flew United Airlines from Newark to Oslo, and then SAS from Oslo up to Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen.

Both Domestic and International passengers check in a large departure hall but once through security (there is a "Fast Track" if flying Business Class), Domestic heads to the left, International to the right. We arrived from Newark and had to overnight in Oslo before connecting to Spitsbergen, the next day and chose a Best Western near the airport because their site said, "transportation," Bad me should have investigated further. Transportation costs to and from the Best Western made the Park Inn Oslo Airport the same price! Plus the Park Inn Oslo is walking distance from Gardemoen Airport. Arghh...
