When the choir was planning a new Christmas project, he had to be convinced to include it. He said that Norway has so many Christmas songs and everyone knows them and sings them – they don’t need another. The song became an instant favorite in Norway. It was even recorded by Princess Martha Louise. This is the English version of the Norwegian "En Stjerne Skinner I Natt" that was recorded in Switzerland
